Day Camp Staff

“During a parent visit I had the opportunity to ‘overhear’ some of the positive behavior strategies used by the counselors, and as an educator myself I was very impressed with their skills. They were kind, respectful and did a great job of redirecting some of the negative behavior and diffusing a potentially problematic situation! I wish all public school staff were as well trained to work with children as these counselors were!”– Parent MM

We are proud of the highly qualified counselors and program staff that make up our team of talented, caring individuals – many of whom have worked at CBC for several summers. Together, our camp staff works to help every single camper have the best camp experience possible. We’re excited about the diversity of talents and experience they bring to CBC, and many of our program staff have more than one area of expertise. Staff Trainings and Certifications

Our staff participates in an intense leadership training program that emphasizes the care and well-being of campers, quality programming, and building relationships with campers of all backgrounds. Our camp staff attend 40 hours of pre-season training that include health and safety issues, child development, and good risk management practices. They also spend time creating new activities and sharing best practices to maximize the fun of every week at camp. Our program staff have all the required certifications in their field, and then some! In fact, the majority of our staff are trained lifeguards and can step into that role whenever they are at the waterfront area. All staff are trained in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Hiring Practices

All staff members are carefully selected and screened to ensure that CBC has the best possible role models for our campers. As an ACA-accredited camp, CBC follows strict hiring practices in screening applicants which include checking references on all new staff and completing background checks on every staff member each year. While the majority of our staff are from this region, we welcome staff from across the country who have made careers in the outdoor education and camp industry.

2020 Leadership Team (Coming Soon)

CBC Camp Coordinators are chosen for their maturity and proven camp experience. Under the guidance of our Camp Director, they each oversee one of our traditional camps—Starburst, Thunder, Lightning, or Quasar. Working with individual group counselors, Camp Coordinators create a safer and more organized camp experience for all. Along with many other duties, each coordinator leads morning and afternoon circles, establishes a good rapport with the campers, and fosters a sense of community within their camp. Out and about on a daily basis, the coordinators also provide added supervision and support for campers and staff. You may have the pleasure of meeting our Camp Coordinators, as they often act as our liaison for parents and our camp office.
