2019 Summer Camp Programs

Letter from the Camp Director

What has two thumbs and is ready for another amazing summer of fun and adventure?  This guy!

As we prepare for the summer of 2019, I think it’s important to once again take a moment to say thank you to all of the campers and families who made me feel so welcome last summer and helped me to even more fully fall in love with Camp Beech Cliff.  You’ve truly made CBC, and Mount Desert Island, a place my family is proud and honored to call home.

More importantly, I’m incredibly happy about the programming we are preparing to offer you this summer.  There’s an impressive line up of specialty camps with many different focuses this summer.  You’ll find some old favorites that are returning once again, as well as some new additions to the schedule, like Horsing Around, a specialty camp focused on the riding and care of some amazing animals with our friends at Whistle Pig farm.  Along with many STEM options, new and improved cooking programs, and programs to help campers find their voice (literally and figuratively), it’s a slate we’re proud to present.

Perhaps most important are additions we have made to our aquatics program for 2019.  I am a lover of the water.  Some of my fondest memories and happiest moments are intimately tied to swimming and boating.  As such, water safety is of the utmost importance.  I am so thrilled that we will be offering swim instruction this year as a valuable resource to our campers and their families.  Learning to navigate the water with respect and confidence, as well as developing strong swim strokes and techniques, can only serve to make our campers happier and more skilled to enjoy all that Echo Lake has to offer.  For more information, please give us a call!

What are you most excited about for this coming summer?  I’m sure the list is endless, and I look forward to sharing it with you as we spend another summer keeping Camp beech Cliff a place of fun, learning, and life changing moments for many years to come.

Matt Cornish, Camp Director

Here’s what some of our camper families have to say…

This is our child’s fourth summer at CBC and each year he seems to like it more and more. You have created a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. You also keep adding on new and innovative options for the campers. We are so pleased and impressed! ” – Parent GF
On Family Fun Day, I just loved witnessing Starburst ‘nature time’, watching all the kids have time to do projects of their own choosing and just be out in the woods. Rachel Carson (author of A Sense of Wonder) is smiling down on you guys for sure!!” – Parent RP
My kids loved the campfire cookout specialty camp. Something about the group clicked with them…Camp is not a comfortable or preferred activity but they have been going to summer camps in general since preschool. I can honestly say this was their best week ever.” – Parent HT
My son had a wonderful time at the Quasar Camp! Thanks to all the counselors and staff – he wants to come back next year…” – Parent KH
My children LOVE their Camp Beech Cliff! I know they take so much more away from their summer experiences because of this wonderful camp. Both my children come home singing songs they have learned at camp. Many an evening they will begin a sentence with, ‘guess what I learned at camp today?’” – Parent MM
